The Graveyard Stretch: Yoga with a Gothic edge


Yoga helps us become aware of our body, breath and mind. As a dancer, it can help in increasing body awareness, building the deep flexibility needed for dance, and supporting the strength required to practise any form of rhythmic movement. Yoga creates a deep internal awareness of the body. An enhanced bodily awareness can allow you to move more freely and clearly, potentially improving your dance movement. Working through movement to improve your whole self can create something which is continuous and beneficial to your wellbeing. Yoga can help us keep injury free and dance for longer!
Of course, we will add in a mega cool playlist to support our asanas with a dark vibe....

You will need a yoga mat.

What we'll cover:

Costuming do's and don'ts - how to create costume drama
A designer's view on how to put together a great costume. A good costume can help you tell your dance story and capture your audience's imagination. We'll look at fit and form, costuming for different body shapes, and talk about how to create drama with light, shade, colour, and texture.

Where's your head at??
Headdresses in all their glory! A great headdress can make all the difference to a costume. We'll look at what makes a great headdress, styling, and the practicalities of how to wear them.

Burning Questions
Ask me anything about costuming, including your DIY dilemmas. Submit your questions before the workshop and we'll cover as many topics as possible.

Step into the shadows and embrace the magic of the Witching Hour. This workshop captures the eerie, captivating energy of that mysterious moment when the veil between worlds is thin. With a focus on slow, sinuous movements that suddenly burst into sharp accents, you'll learn how to create an atmosphere of dark enchantment. We’ll play with timing, stillness, and intention to evoke the feeling of spells being cast and unseen forces at play. Ideal for dancers looking to add a dramatic flair to their performances, Witching Hour is where elegance meets the supernatural, transforming your movements into something truly bewitching.

This is a grounding, nourishing, feel good workshop, inspired by the calm and beauty that nature offers.
Let's tap into thee infinite depth of presence, movement, and life of nature.
By presencing ourselves, working through moving meditations, nature inspired movement flow and super lovely combos, we can tap into and cultivate our more natural states; drawing inspiration from nature, finding more internal expression, peace, freedom, love, joy and grounding.
The dancer will leave this workshop feeling calm, connected, grounded, reinvigorated, accomplished, and nourished!
Nature becomes our beloved, our "valentine".
